Bergen to Oslo

Our very short time in Bergen began with reading and meditating on Psalm 8, using a Gideon New Testament we found at our bedside. After reflecting for a time on all we had experienced of His greatness and power and protection and provision it seemed only reasonable to say to Him together, "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have ordained; what is man that You take thought of him, and the son of man that You care for him?"  With our souls satisfied by His Word and a time of communion with Him, we set out on a short walking tour of Bergen, Norway's second-largest city.

Cobblestones are way cool

We could have spent more time exploring this old, old city (est. 1070 AD), but our schedule had us at the train station to catch the 10:28 back to Oslo.

The snow was still there at the higher elevations on the return trip.

I got a lot of reading done on the long trip back to Oslo.

After an evening meal (fajitas) we walked across the way to the Oslo Opera House, a truly amazing bit of architecture.  All roof surfaces invite you to walk on them - smooth inclines from ground level up to the very top.  We joined many others in enjoying the views from there.

And finally, they put us in a new room for tonight here at the Thon Opera Hotel.  New, like we were the first people to ever stay in this room.  And this is our bed for tonight.

Can't say I ever had a ballerina over my headboard!
P.S.  Happy Birthday, Karen McDonald!
