Washington to Gothenburg

The flight to Copenhagen took 7.5 hours.  We saw the sun set over Prince Edward Island and we saw the sun rise over Scotland.  We had a short connection in Copenhagen, and after an up-and-down flight arrived safely in Gothenburg, Sweden, around 9:00 a.m.

We met a couple from West Virginia as we were flying into Gothenburg.  They were coming to claim a new Volvo just as we were.  And just as we had been told, a Volvo representative met the four of us at the airport and drove us to the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel.

After checking into the hotel we took a walking tour of the city on our way to a popular fish market called the "Fish Church", where we had a most unusual seafood lunch.  And not only did we enjoy a unique meal, but we also had as table companions two PhD oceanographers who spoke English well and were delightful conversationalists.

A lovely monkfish.  I couldn't get Betty to eat one of these.

We caught up on some missed sleep in the afternoon, and then went our for a second walk in the neighborhood of our hotel.  The following are some images we captured.

And finally, would you believe a bubble-blowing teddy bear?!

Our driver is to pick us up tomorrow morning at 8:00 to go to the Volvo plant.  We are excited!
