Oslo to Copenhagen

In parting, some words that come to our minds about the country of Norway:

Tunnels
Technology
Scenic

Expensive
Round-abouts
Waterfalls
Red Barns
Black Soil

And some words that come to our minds about the people of Norway:

Tall
Attractive
Stylish
Congenial
Helpful

Proud
Smokers (many)
Baby Carriages

So long, Norway.  Hope to see you again someday!

The drive from Oslo to Copenhagen took 8 hours, with stops.  We drove in three countries in one day for the first time in our experience, namely Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.  We had a lot of rain, but the Volvo XC90 passed the wet weather test with flying colors! The Swedish countryside to the north of Gothenburg is generally pretty wild and very scenic.  Sweden south of Gothenburg is mostly very well-cared-for agriculture land and prosperous looking farmsteads.  We enjoyed crossing the Oresund Bridge and Tunnel out of Sweden into Denmark.  It is Europe's longest combined road and rail bridge, and it is an amazing feat of engineering.

Much closer

It's a really big bridge.

Then it becomes a tunnel under part of the Atlantic Ocean!

Upon arriving in Copenhagen we first sought out two of the most well-known statues in the literary world, that of The Little Mermaid, and that of Hans Christian Anderson, the famous Danish author who wrote the fairy tale about her by the same name.

Springtime in Copenhagen
We had dinner outside of Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen's famous amusement park that was opened in 1843  in the center of the city.  We plan to enjoy some time in the park tomorrow.
